2018 repress of the debut full length lp from spencer doran and ryan carlile s visible cloaks project. initially recorded in 2013 and issued on cassette by sun ark in 2014 (as cloaks), this first offering uses conceptual processes to weave many of the same threads as their later work, synthetic fm tones, tuned mallet percussion, and electronically modulated voice, all arranged in a gossamer web, spun with neon electronics. on this release the duo set off on the sonic journey they are still on today, refracting their influences through east-west feedback loops, augmenting traditions with technology. remastered 45rpm dmm version with additional surprises!

having debuted with a fine ep by job sifre, artificial dance has returned to the source for release number two. the 12inch pays tribute to one of the most influential figures of original diy electronic music scene of holland, hanjo erkamp. during the first half of the 1980s, erkamp had a hand in some of the most experimental and forward-thinking releases on the now legendary cassette label, trumpett. famously, he was a member of two of the label’s key bands industrial outfit doxa sinistra and new wave combo ende shneafliet but during the period he also recorded a swathe of solo tracks as c.stein, most of which only saw the light of day decades later. la bombe plastique, a thrillingly spacey and futurist cut rich in proto-techno rhythms, intergalactic electronic motifs and drowsy choral vocals. for this timely reissue, the superb original version comes accompanied by a fresh re-edit created primarily for dj use.

here at plastique recordings we have pressed up some very limited promos of 2 dance floor cuts of the collaboration between legendary synth outfit soft cell’s dave ball with hifi sean jamming out an electro nyc danceteria style number ultratheque a homage to glasgow’s first ever laser disco day version & night version both exclusive to this vinyl.

truck is a buzzing analogue moog droning bass riff over disco-tic handclap beats with cb radio vocals by the one and only frontman of the b-52 s fred , think homage to movies like convoy and smokey & the bandit turned into pulsing dubbed up soundtrack to hitting the road and hitting the caffeine. in flagranti pump up the beats and claps and give it a nyc 80 s b-boy twist that just builds and builds in to a euphoric percussive groove in their own usual trademark style.

ultratheque pays tribute to glasgow s first ever laser disco and the first dancehall that hifi sean frequented as a teenager. soft cell/the grid analogue keyboard maestro dave ball adds his trademark sound on this solid electro groove making it sound like some lost dub from nyc danceteria days dave himself with skull bandits crank up the electroclash vibes on the remix and turn it into a full on dancefloor onslaught like ultratheque itself was back in those laser-tastic days.

atomium is a bass riff driven phat slo-mo disco funk groove featuring the man himself from funkadelic / parliament with his usual unique vocal playing with you as it rolls along on tripped out harpsichord and vocoder riffs dr. packer dubs it up a little more on remix duties with his usual disco funk edit style that we all know and love him for.

plastique de rêves new single on david carrettas label space factory disques follows up on last years fantastic release on dfa with its summer !!, a perfect techno-pop summer hit with another great feature by vocalist ghostape, and dives further into the realms of electrodisco, synth-pop, and cosmic music. ultra synthetic and light-hearted, yet dreamy and emotional, the three tracks (four on the digital release) each capture with authenticity the essence of electronic disco music but pay tribute to it here in a very original, playful and modern way. its summer !! is a great follow-up to plastique de rêves previous singles on dfa and supersoul recordings, also featuring ghostape on vocals. this time the music goes even deeper into the worlds of synth-pop and electronic disco, with reminiscences of vince clarkes yazoo, giorgio moroder or kelley polar. the sunny, laidback, pop radio atmosphere, together with ghostapes emotional build up of the deliberately simplest lyrics ever written so far, might well keep you smiling, and dancing, all summer.

these tracks are fairly special in our opinion and we are very honoured to be releasing them as the first optimo music disco plate.noo are daze dasen (aka plastique de reve) and sami liuski (aka bangkok impact / putsch 79). this is a double a side 12inch single (plus a digital bonus track that we couldnt fit on the 12inch and still have maximum pressing volume). built out of imaginative sampling combined with analogue hardware, these tracks are phenomenally produced, lush disco string fuelled epics that fully work their magic in a club setting. this is modern disco, most definitely not nu disco.

hailing from chicago, the latest entry from our new skudge white series sees innerspace halflife venture into some of house and technos eeriest realms. when ike release and hakim murphy joined forces sometime last year, we immediately thought that their very own cosmic take on jackin house would be a perfect fit for our label, and boy did they deliver!
